The Best Pedometer, By
This review is from: Omron HJ-320 Tri-Axis Pedometer (Health and Beauty)
Customer Video Review Length:: 1:05 Mins Does this have every feature possible in a pedometer, you ask? Well, no, it doesn’t. What it does do is count steps pretty darn accurately. It converts them to calories and distance. It totals all that information on a daily basis and keeps the daily totals for a week. Once I take care of the initial setting, a simple matter that takes a couple minutes, I never have to do anything besides have it on my belt, sitting in my pocket, or in a surprise place that is revealed for the first time anywhere in the accompanying video. It’s that last part that makes this pedometer so great. The listing never clearly showed the size. I figured it was conveniently small but it was even better than I expected. It is also quite reliable. I’ve tested it a bunch of times, counting out 100 steps and seeing that it registers anywhere from 97 to 103. For me, and probably most people, that is just fine. Pinpoint accuracy isn’t the goal unless you’re using this to measure a room for carpeting. Over a long distance it will tell you how far you’ve walked and if you’re doing a 10,000 step/day program it’s a good way to know if you’ve reached it. Larger devices may come a step or two out of a 100 closer though from the ones I’ve tried, this is as accurate as any of them. The thing is, I’m far more likely to have this with me than anything much larger. I’ve also found this pedometer isn’t overly bothered by most non-walking activities. For example, I got in my car and the pedometer read 1774 steps. It read the same after 30 minutes of driving. There’s a saying among photographers, that the best camera to have is the one you have with you. That works for pedometers too, this is one that is so convenient you’re more likely to have it with you. 0

My workplace did a fitness challenge and gave me a pedometer that only worked when attached vertically to my waistband. It kept on falling off when I did anything really active.
So I purchased this pedometer — the Omron HJ-320. I love it! It seems about half the thickness of the one that was so inconvenient, and the best thing is that I can keep it in my pocket! Also, UNLIKE the other pedometer I had tried first, the Omron HJ-320 does not mistake driving for walking. I’m amazed at how accurate this little thing is. Also, I’ve dropped it accidentally a few times onto hard floors, and it has withstood that without any apparent loss of accuracy. 0

I only started using this, but so far I have found it to be very accurate. Which is kind of disappointing as I thought i was more active.
